Srinagar, Apr 06 (KNO): The textile and apparel sector in Jammu and Kashmir has shown a stable trend over the past five years, with a majority of units remaining operational, reflecting sustained industrial activity in the Union Territory. As per official figures accessed by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jammu and Kashmir recorded 24 textile manufacturing units in 2023-24, of which 23 were operational. In the wearing apparel segment, the UT had 11 units, all of which were functional during the same period. The data indicates fluctuations in the number of textile units over the years, including 25 units in 2019-20, 30 in 2020-21, and 20 in 2021-22, before stabilising in the recent period. Similarly, the wearing apparel sector has largely remained consistent, with most units continuing operations across the years, showing resilience despite variations in total numbers. The figures suggest that a substantial proportion of industrial units in the textile and apparel sector continue to remain active in Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)
